Notice of the Meeting of the Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, for
AUGUST 19, 2002

Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the above named Court will be held at nine a.m. August 19, 2002, with the meeting to be held in the Commissioners' Courtroom, at the Bell County Courthouse 101 Central Avenue, Belton, Texas, to begin on August 19, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. and continue thereafter until such business of the Court has been completed in accordance with Article 81.005 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas.  The following items of business will be discussed, to-wit:

  1. Moment of silence in recognition of the passing of Rev. Harold Ellis, Bell County J.A.I.L. Ministry Directory.

  2. Presentation of Commendation Awards by Bell County Communications Center Director, Tim Leverenz, to individuals who provided exceptional service in responding following the lightening strike at the center.

  3. Minutes of July 29, 2002, and August 12, 2002.

  4. County Engineer

    1. Consider authorizing County Engineer to advertise for bids for the right of way fencing on Romberg Road. 

    2. Personnel.

  5. In accordance with the laws governing such matters, the County Judge will present the FY 02-03 budget for Bell County and hold a public hearing thereon; the Court will discuss and approve such budget; further in accordance with the Texas Property Tax Code, the Commissioners' Court will set a date, time and place for the holding of a public hearing with intent to increase the tax rates for Bell County and the Bell County Road District more than 3% above the effective rates but not to exceed current tax rate.

  6. Award bids on health insurance and dental insurance for FY 02-03.

  7. Consider approval of an Interlocal Participation Agreement with the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative, commonly known as the "BuyBoard."

  8. Consider approval of Amendment to ByLaws of Texas Urban Counties Local Government Corporation adding Travis County as an ex-officio (non-voting) member without making a financial contribution. 

  9. Consider change order to JJAEP Education Building Construction Contract in the amount of $22,750.00.

  10. Claims.
