Notice of the Meeting of the Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, for
AUGUST 26, 2002

Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the above named Court will be held at nine a.m. August 26, 2002, and August 28,2002 with the meeting to be held in the COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM, at the Bell County Courthouse 101 Central Avenue, Belton, Texas, to begin on August 26, 2002, and August 28, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. and continue thereafter until such business of the Court has been completed in accordance with Article 81.005 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas.  The following items of business will be discussed, to-wit:

  1. Approve Minutes of August 19, 2002.

  2. County Engineer

    1. Conduct public hearing and consider approval of the following traffic Control Devices:  (1) Installation of a 30 mph speed limit on Shiloh Terrace, Bremond, Grace and Rosemont, all in Shiloh Terrace Subdivision.   (2) Install a YIELD sign on Pointer Street at Airedale, for east-bound traffic. 

    2. Consider vacation/abandonment of a portion of Wells Lane and Acceptance of the road and right of way for the new connection of Wells Lane to FM 2843. 

    3. Consider final approval of the amending of a plat for Salado Prairies Subdivision.

    4. Consider releasing construction bond in the amount of $827,610.00 for Hidden Springs, Section One, and acceptance of a Maintenance bond in the amount of $87,590.00.

    5. Consider renaming Griffin Drive, Llewellen Estates to "Hope" Drive.

    6. Consider approval of the preliminary plat for Ryan Addition. 

    7. Consider approval of the preliminary plat for Diana Addition.

    8. Personnel.

  3. County Treasurer, Charles Jones, to give quarterly interest report. 

  4. Consider changing the previously approved polling places within the City Limits of Killeen.  Considerar cambiar los lugares de votacion previamente aprobabas dentro de los confines de la ciudad de Killeen.

  5. Report from HR Director Ron Heuss on award presentation by the Texas Association of Counties for Supervision 101 Course given to Bell County Supervisors. 

  6. Consider and approve FY 2002-2003 Bell County Budget. 

  7. Consider awarding contract for soil testing for areas around museum/Guffey buildings. 

  8. Renewal of the Staff Contribution contract with Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (for child protective services) effective September 1, 2002 to August 31, 2003. 

  9. Consider and act on resolution authorizing submission of 2003/2004 Texas Community Development Program Grant Application on behalf of Bell County W.C.I.D. #5.

  10. Consider and act on resolution of intent to employ an engineer and management consultant for 2003/2004 Texas Community Development Program on behalf of Bell County W.C.I.D. #5. 

  11. Consider advertising for Requests for Qualifications for architect for jail and district court building expansion/renovation.  

  12. Claims.



AGENDA ITEMS FOR 9 A.M. ON WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28, 2002

  1. Hold a public hearing on proposal to increase total tax revenues for Bell County and the Bell County Road District. 

  2. Set a date, time, and place to vote on and set the tax rates for FY 2002-2003 for Bell County and for the Bell County Road District.
