Notice of the Meeting of the Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, for
July 07, 2003

Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the above named Court will be held at 9:00 a.m., July 07, 2003, with the meeting to be held in the COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM, at the Bell County Courthouse 101 Central Avenue, Belton, Texas, to begin on July 07, 2003, at 9:00 a.m. and continue thereafter until such business of the Court has been completed in accordance with Article 81.005 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas.  The following items of business will be discussed, to-wit:

  1. Approve minutes of June 23, June 30 and July 1, 2003. 

  2. County Engineer.

    1. Conduct Public Hearing and Consider Approval of the following traffic control devices:

      1.  Install STOP signs on Avenue E at 3rd Street in Pendleton (north and south-bound traffic);

      2.  Install 30 M.P.H. speed limits on Limewood Lane, Lemonwood Lane, Osage Lane and Little Elm Loop,
           all in Elm Creek Addition.

    2. Consider authorizing the County Judge to order the County Clerk to release funds deposited by Mr. Elbert Shaw, said funds being deposited in the Open Trust Account for the maintenance of road improvements for Shaw Valley Subdivision. 

    3. Consider approval of the Final Plat for Mill Creek Springs Overlook Subdivision, a Five-Lot, 7.41 Acre Development in the E.T.J. of The Village of Salado.  

  3. Personnel.

  4. Consider authorizing County Judge to contract for services to review and give advice on proposed changes in property and liability coverages and amounts of deductibles from St. Paul Insurance, the County's property and liability insurer. 

  5. Consider awarding bids for health and dental insurance.  

  6. Consider requesting news media to do a series of reports on the Jail/Courts Project to cover:

    1. Do We Have a Jail Overcrowding Problem?

    2. Can the Existing Jail be Expanded to Meet the Need?

    3. Would Other Downtown Locations for the Jail Work?

    4. Why Build on the 75 Acres on Loop 121?

    5. Why Does the District Court's Building Need Renovation and Expansion?

    6. Why Can't the District Court's Building Be Expanded In Place?

    7. Why Not Build Where the Gin Is Located?

    8. Will County Buildings Be Vacant in Downtown?

    9. Is Parking an Issue?

    10. Is it Cheaper to Lease than Build?

    11. What is the Cost of Delay?

    12. What About the Future?
