Notice of the Meeting of the Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, for
December 17, 2007

Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the above named Court will be held at 9:00 a.m., December 17, 2007, with the meeting to be held in the COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM, at the Bell County Courthouse 101 Central Avenue, Belton, Texas, to begin on  December 17, 2007, at 9:00 a.m. and continue thereafter until such business of the Court has been completed in accordance with Article 81.005 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas.  The following items of business will be discussed, to-wit:


  1. Consider approval of minutes of December 10, 2007.

  2. County Engineer.

    1. Conduct Final Plat approval for Cross S Ranch, a Two-Lot, 8.79 Acre Subdivision Fronting on Royal Street. 
    2. Consider Final Plat approval for Presa Vista Subdivision, a 12-Lot, 9.378 Acre Development off of F.M. 2484. 

  3. Personnel. 

  4. Receive $1,837.71 incentive check from Oncor Electric Delivery for the efficient new construction/renovation and energy efficiency upgrades of the Sheriff's Office Building as a part of the 2007 CitySmart Program sponsored by Oncor.  This will be the first incentive check awarded through the Program.   

  5. Announce the receipt of $185,924 in grants to Bell County from the Task Force on Indigent Defense to assist with increased indigent defense costs.  The grants will reimburse Bell County about 23.9% of the $761,296 in increased costs due to the Indigent Defense Act. 

  6. Announce the award of Certificate of Merit by the American Institute of Architects, Academy of Architecture for Justice, to Wiginton-Hooker-Jeffry Architects for the Bell County District Courthouse project, which was selected for publication in the 2007 Justice Facilities Review. 

  7. Receive report from Fire Marshall and consider status of Order Restricting Outdoor burning and consider possible reinstatement, continuation, modification, extension, or termination of the Order and a finding that circumstances present in all or part of the unincorporated area create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning.

  8. Receive report and update from the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance from Bill Parry, Executive Director.

  9. Consider approval of final FY 2007 budget amendments.

  10. Consider approval of lease between Bell County and First Salado Center, LLC, for 815 North Stagecoach, Suite 300, in Salado for office space for Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace.

  11. Consider approval of Change Order Number 004 on the Bell County Jail addition project with Skanska USA Building, Inc. that does not increase the Guaranteed Maximum Price.   

  12. Claims.

            Bell County Commissioners Court reserves the right to discuss any items in executive (closed) session
            whenever permitted by the Texas Open Meeting Act.
