Notice of the Meeting of the Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, for
May 27, 2008

Notice is hereby given that a regular meeting of the above named Court will be held at 9:00 a.m., May 27, 2008, with the meeting to be held in the COMMISSIONERS' COURTROOM, at the Bell County Courthouse 101 Central Avenue, Belton, Texas, to begin on  May 27, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. and continue thereafter until such business of the Court has been completed in accordance with Article 81.005 of the Local Government Code of the State of Texas.  The following items of business will be discussed, to-wit:

 

  1. Consider approval of minutes of May 19, 2008.

  2. County Engineer.

    1. Conduct releasing Letter of Credit No. 1032, in the amount of $4,700 from First Texas Bank, for the Warranty of Improvements in Chisholm Oaks Subdivision, Precinct 3.
    2. Consider releasing Letter of Credit No. 480 ($198,767.00), First Texas Bank, and replacing it with Letter of Credit No. 506 in the amount of $7,500.00, from First Texas Bank as Warranty for the Improvements in Swaida Addition, Precinct 4.
    3. Consider awarding bids for the purchase of Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete (HMAC).
    4. Consider awarding bids for the purchase of liquid asphalt products (HFRS-2 and AE-P).
    5. Receive update on debris removal, clean-up, and assistance resources regarding the May 14, 2008 Bell County storm.
    6. Consider approval of Interlocal Agreements with the City of Temple and the Village of Salado for the cleanup of storm-related debris in the Village of Salado and in unincorporated areas of Bell County. 
       
  3. Consider status of Declaration of Local Disaster Order issued on May 15, 2008 and status of Local Disaster Executive Orders issued May 16 and 23, 2008, and to determine whether to terminate, continue, or extend the orders.

  4. Personnel.

  5. Acknowledge Bell County's receipt of 2007 Gold Star Safety Award by the Texas Association of Counties.  Only ten counties in Texas received the award for their demonstrated actions and implemented procedures which were recognized as being proactive in total Risk Management.  Bell County was again recognized for its record of excellence in the involvement and commitment to safety in the workplace and the controlling of Workers' Compensation claims.

  6. Acknowledge Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Don Engleking and Precinct 4/Place 2 Justice of the Peace William Cooke, as being the first Justice Courts in the State of Texas to implement electronic civil case filing with TexasOnline.   

  7. Consider approval of Order of Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, authorizing the County Judge to approve the issuance of Hospital Revenue Bonds issued for the benefit of Scott and White Memorial Hospital and Scott, Sherwood and Brindley Foundation for the sole purpose of complying with the requirements of Section 147(f) of the Internal Revenue Code, which does not create any obligation or liability upon Bell County.  

  8. Consider approval of results of County Auction held on April 26, 2008.

  9. Consider approval of the 2009 R-05 Service Agreement Renewal of the VINE (Victim Information & Notification Everyday) program between Appriss, Inc. and Bell County, to be funded by the Office of the Attorney General.

  10. Consider approval of the Repair Order for ThyssenKrupp Elevator to replace existing cylinder for Elevator #1 in the Sheriff's Office Building.

  11. Consider approval of the engineering proposal for tempering the attic engineering in the Historic Bell County Courthouse.

  12. Claims.

            Bell County Commissioners Court reserves the right to discuss any items in executive (closed) session
            whenever permitted by the Texas Open Meeting Act.
