APRIL 30, 2001


AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 30th day of April, 2001, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular special session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

  1. Agenda #2a - Public Hearing

    • MINUTE ORDER #146/01: It being nine a.m., JUDGE BURROWS called the meeting to order and opened the public hearing on the consideration of the abandonment/vacation of a portion of Buckhorn Lane.  He asked if there were any public comments;  there being no comments, the public hearing was closed.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, seconded by COMMISSIONER STEPHENSON, the Court unanimously approved the abandonment/vacation of a portion of Buckhorn Lane.  All according to a copy of the same attached hereto and made a part of these minutes. 



  2. Agenda #2b - Personnel

    • MINUTE ORDER #147/01:   Upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.  



  3. Agenda #3 - Mental Health Month Proclamation

    • MINUTE ORDER #148/01:  Mr. Eldon Tietji appeared before the Court requesting that a proclamation be passed designating May 2001 as Mental Health Month.  After due discussion, upon motion of JUDGE BURROWS, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved a proclamation declaring the month of May 2001 as Mental Health Month in Bell County.   All according to a copy of the same attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.  



  4. Agenda #4 - Bus Stop Sign

    • MINUTE ORDER #149/01:  JUDGE BURROWS presented the request  of the Killeen-Temple Commuter Bus Service  with respect to the installation of a bus stop sign to be located on Water Street on the south side of the Courthouse.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved such request, subject to City of Belton's requirements.  



  5. Agenda #5 - Redistricting Report

    • MINUTE ORDER #150/01:  JUDGE BURROWS gave a report concerning the various plans for the redistricting for State Senate, State Representatives, and U. S. Congressional District Lines being presented to the State Legislature.



  6. Agenda #6 - Claims

    • MINUTE ORDER #151/01:  The County Auditor presented all claims for the review of the Court.  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, the Court unanimously approved all such claims.  All according to a copy of the same on record in the office of the County Auditor.



  7. Agenda #1 - Minutes

    • MINUTE ORDER #152/01:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, the Court unanimously approved the minutes of April 9, April 16, and April 23, 2001.




             There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.


            (The Court then went into workshop session and discussed the following items with no action being
             taken on the same, to-wit:   1) Pending legislation;  2) Redistricting; and  3) Facility planning 
            and design).
