IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF

OCTOBER  22, 2001


AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 22nd day of October, 2001, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular special session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

  1. Agenda #1 - Minutes

    • MINUTE ORDER #347/01:  It being nine a.m. JUDGE BURROWS called the meeting to order and waived presentation of the minutes of October 15, 2001, at the present time.   



  2. Agenda #2a - Awarding bids

    • MINUTE ORDER #348/01:  Upon the recommendation of the County Engineer (a copy of the same being attached), on motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, the Court unanimously approved awarding the bids for the purchase of motor graders and a track loader to Darr Equipment, with the funds for the track loader to come from the bridge maintenance fund and authorized the amending of such budget for this purpose.     



  3. Agenda #2b - Public Hearing for the Abandonment of a portion of Cen-Tex Sportsman Club Rd.

    • MINUTE ORDER #349/01:  The County Engineer presented the request of James Bounds for the abandonment of a portion of the Cen-Tex Sportsman Club Road.  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE seconded by,  COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved setting the date for such hearing for November 19, 2001, at nine a.m.    



  4. Agenda #2c - Personnel

    • MINUTE ORDER #350/01:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.         



  5. Agenda #3 - Solid Waste Advisory Council Appointment

    • MINUTE ORDER #351/01:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER STEPHENSON, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved appointing County Engineer Macchi to the Solid Waste Advisory Council.           



  6. Agenda #4 - Corps of Engineers Law Enforcement Agreement

    • MINUTE ORDER #352/01:  Mr. Chuck Cox, representing the Bell County Sheriff's Office and Mr. Murray McCauley, representing the Corps of Engineers, appeared before the Court to request the re-issuance of Bell County's contract with the Corps for the patrolling of Lakes Belton and Stillhouse due to Federal guide lines for the protection of both lakes.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously authorized the County Judge to execute such contract on behalf of Bell County.        



  7. Agenda #5 - Employee Protection Guide for Biological & Chemical Threats

    • MINUTE ORDER #353/01:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER STEPHENSON, the Court unanimously approved the adoption of an Employee Protection Guide for Biological and Chemical Threats, all according to a copy of the same attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.          



  8. Agenda #6 - Claims

    • MINUTE ORDER #354/01:  The County Auditor presented all claims for the review of the Court.  After proper review, upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved all such claims.  All according to a copy of the same on record in the office of the County Auditor.

       

                (The Court then went into open Workshop Session in the conference room and the following items   
                 were discussed with no action being taken on the same, to-wit:  1) Thoroughfare Plan update;  
                2) Bid procedures for juvenile probation education building; and 3) Update on Bell County 
                Health Facilities Corporation.)
                


               
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
