IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF

BELL COUNTY, TEXAS

JULY  8, 2002


AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 8th day of July, 2002, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular special session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

  1. Agenda #1 - Minutes

    • MINUTE ORDER #254/02:  It being nine a.m., JUDGE BURROWS called the meeting to order and called  to the Courts attention the fact that they had previously received copies of the minutes of July 1 and 4, 2002.  He asked if there were any corrections or additions to the minutes; there being none, the minutes were approved as submitted.   



  2. Agenda #2a - Software Upgrade for the Cartegraph Asset Management Program

    • MINUTE ORDER #255/02:   The County Engineer presented the matter of acquiring software, software upgrades and training for the cartegraph asset management program at an estimated total cost of $29,010.00 with such funds to be expended from the bridge maintenance funds.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, the Court unanimously approved such expenditure and action.       



  3. Agenda #2b - Fencing Bids on Amity School Road

    • MINUTE ORDER #256/02:  Upon the recommendation of the County Engineer, on motion of  COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved the awarding of the fencing contract for Amity School Road to the low bidder of D.R. Jones in the amount of $20,615.00.       
          



  4. Agenda #2c - Personnel

    • MINUTE ORDER #257/02:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.     
          



  5. Agenda #3 - Emergency Repairs for Communication Center

    • MINUTE ORDER #258/02:  The Director of the Bell County Communications Center appeared before the Court to report that lightening had struck the antenna at the Communication Center and the cost for repairs were going to be some $93,800.00.  In accordance with section number 262.024, Local Government Code, with respect to an item necessary to preserve and protect the public health or safety of the residents of the county, upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER STEPHENSON, the Court unanimously authorized the repair of such antenna under the emergency repairs without bidding the same.  

           


  6. Agenda #4 - Claims

    • MINUTE ORDER #259/02:   The County Auditor presented all claims for the review of the Court.  After proper review, upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved all such claims.  All according to a copy of the same being of record in the office of the County Auditor. 
          


                    (The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items listed on their agenda 
                    without any action being taken thereon.)




                   
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
