IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF

BELL COUNTY, TEXAS

SEPTEMBER  09, 2002


AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 9th day of September, 2002, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular special session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

            (Prior to the meeting JUDGE BURROWS announced that the burn ban would be lifted for 72 hours until
            sun down Wednesday due to the rain and if necessary the Court would meet at one p.m. Thursday to 
            discuss the burn ban if any other action is deemed necessary.)



  1. Agenda #1 - Minutes

    • MINUTE ORDER #349/02:  It being nine a.m., JUDGE BURROWS called the meeting to order and waived the presentation of the Minutes of September 3 and 5, 2002, at the present time. 



  2. Agenda #2a - Acceptance of Sandlin Drive for Road Maintenance

    • MINUTE ORDER #350/02:   The County Engineer presented the matter of the accepting of Sandlin Drive, Sherwood Shores VIII, for Maintenance by the County in accordance with the policy letter dated March 17, 1987.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved the acceptance of Sandlin Drive, Sherwood Shores VIII for Maintenance.  All according to a copy of the same attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.      



  3. Agenda #2b - Purchase of a Porta Mole culvert cleaning system

    • MINUTE ORDER #351/02:  The Court discussed the matter of the purchase of a Porta Mole Culvert Cleaning System by the Court at their upcoming Commissioner Conference in Odessa.  The approximate cost of the same being $12,995.00 which is under the amount of the requirement of the bidding process.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously authorized COMMISSIONER SCHILLER to represent the Court in negotiating the purchase of a Porta Mole Culvert Cleaning System for the Road and Bridge Department.   
          



  4. Agenda #2c - Purchase of an Asphalt Distributor

    • MINUTE ORDER #352/02:  The County Engineer presented the matter of advertising for bids for the purchase of an Asphalt Distributor.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved advertising for bids to purchase an Asphalt Distributor for the Road and Bridge Department and the amending of the budget to make such purchase.
          



  5. Agenda #2d - Personnel

    • MINUTE ORDER #353/02:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, seconded by COMMISSIONER STEPHENSON, the Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.      
          



  6. Agenda #3 - 9-1-1 Resolution

    • MINUTE ORDER #354/02:  JUDGE BURROWS presented a resolution concerning 9-1-1.  After reading such resolution, upon motion of JUDGE BURROWS, seconded by all Commissioners, the Court unanimously approved such resolution.  All according to a copy of the same attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.  
          



  7. Agenda #4 - County Auditor's Budget

    • MINUTE ORDER #355/02:  DONNA EAKIN, County Auditor presented the Order from the District Judges certifying the FY 2002-03 County Auditor's Budget.  The same being attached hereto.      
          



  8. Agenda #5 - Court Reporter's Pay

    • MINUTE ORDER #356/02:  JUDGE BURROWS presented the Orders of the District Judges with respect to the Court Reporter's pay for FY 2002-03, the same being attached hereto.     
          



  9. Agenda #6 - Purchase of Computers

    • MINUTE ORDER #357/02:  Upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER STEPHENSON, the Court unanimously approved the advertising for bids for the initial purchase of 50 computers with the ability to purchase a total of approximately 139 during the budget year 2002-03.
          



  10. Agenda #7 - Sale of County Owned Land in Rogers

    • MINUTE ORDER #358/02:  The Court discussed the matter of the sale of unneeded County Real Estate in the City of Rogers.  After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER SCHILLER, seconded by COMMISSIONER BROWN, the Court unanimously approved taking bids for the sale of Lot 12 and the North 1/4 of Lot 11, Block 3 in the original town of Rogers and so instructed the County Auditor to run such notice.         
          



  11. Agenda #8 - Claims

    • MINUTE ORDER #359/02:  The County Auditor presented all claims for the review of the Court.  After proper review, upon motion of COMMISSIONER BROWN, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously approved all such claims.  All according to a copy of the same being of record in the office of the County Auditor.    


             (The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items on the workshop agenda with 
              no action taken on any matter.)



            There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
