this the 22nd day of February, 2005, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas,
met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular session with the

Agenda #1 - Minutes
- MINUTE ORDER #67/05: It being nine a.m., JUDGE
BURROWS called the meeting to order and called to the Courts
attention the fact that they had previously received copies of the minutes
of February 14 2005. He asked if there were
any corrections or additions to the minutes; there being no corrections, the minutes were
approved as submitted.
Agenda #2 - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #68/05: There were no items from the
County Engineer.
Agenda #3 - Personnel
- MINUTE ORDER #69/05: Upon motion of COMMISSIONER
FISHER, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court
unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being
attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.
Agenda #4 - Deferred Compensation
- MINUTE ORDER #70/05: The Court discussed the addition
of another provider for optional deferred compensation for Bell County
Employees. After due
discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER
FISHER, the Court
unanimously approved the addition of VALIC as an additional provider for
optional deferred compensation for Bell County Employees.
Agenda #5 - Report of Recount of The Village of
Stillhouse Vote
- MINUTE ORDER #71/05: JUDGE BURROWS gave
a report concerning the recount of those votes cast in the Village of
Stillhouse Incorporation Election held February 5, 2005. He reported
that the recount reflected the same results as had been reported on
February 5, 2005, that being 116 votes for the issue; and 130 votes
against the issue. Upon motion of COMMISSIONER
LANGE, seconded by COMMISSIONER CORTESE, the Court unanimously
approved such recount results. All according to a copy of the same
attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.
Agenda #6 - Transfer of Funds from 4-H Youth Fund
to Bell County Expo Fund
- MINUTE ORDER #72/05: JUDGE BURROWS presented
the matter of authorizing and approving the transfer of funds from the 4-H
Youth Fund to the Bell County EXPO Fund for the building of a storage
facility adjacent to the EXPO facilities. After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER
CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER LANGE, the Court
unanimously approved the transferring of $294,128.12 from the 4-H Youth
Fund to the Bell County Expo fund for the building of a storage facility
adjacent to the Expo facility.
Agenda #7 - Sheriff's Department Van
- MINUTE ORDER #73/05: Sheriff Dan Smith appeared
before the Court to discuss the recent accident that had totaled the
Sheriff's Department Van which is needed to transport inmates and juvenile
offenders. After due discussion, upon motion of COMMISSIONER
CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER LANGE, the Court approved
the emergency purchase of a new van as authorized under Section 262.024(a)
1-3 or under an approved state contract, such as HGAC, to replace the
totaled van at an estimated cost of #30,000.00 plus the safety insert in
the van at a cost of $7,000.00, and approved the necessary budget
amendments if necessary.
Agenda #8 - Claims
- MINUTE ORDER #74/05: The County Auditor presented
all claims for the review of the Court. After proper review, upon motion of COMMISSIONER
CORTESE, seconded by COMMISSIONER FISHER, the Court
unanimously approved all such claims. All according to a copy of the
same being of record in the office of the County Auditor.
(The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items on
the workshop agenda with no action being taken on any item.)
There being no further business, the meeting
adjourned.
