IN THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF

BELL COUNTY, TEXAS


December 11, 2006


AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 11th day of December, 2006, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

  1. Agenda #1 - Minutes

    • MINUTE ORDER #524/06:  It being nine a.m., Judge Jon H. Burrows called the regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court to order and called to the Courts attention that they had received the minutes of December 4, 2006.  After due discussion, the minutes were approved as submitted.



  2. Agenda #2 - County Engineer

    • There were no items at this time.



  3. Agenda #3 - Personnel

    • MINUTE ORDER #525/06:  Upon motion of Commissioner Fisher, seconded by Commissioner Cortese, the Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.



  4. Agenda #4 - Texas Farm Bureau

    • MINUTE ORDER #526/06:  Judge Burrows recognized Commissioner Precinct 1, Richard Cortese for being elected to a two-year term on the 13-member Board of Directors of Texas Farm Bureau, Texas' largest farm organization.



  5. Agenda #5 - Interlocal Agreement

    • MINUTE ORDER #527/06:  Sharon Long, Tax Assessor - Collector, presented for approval an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Temple.  This agreement would allow the City to use Bell County's election software and fiber optic network to process and maintain records regarding early voting in the City of Temple elections.  After due discussion, upon motion by Commissioner Cortese, seconded by Commissioner Fisher, the Court unanimously approved this matter.  



  6. Agenda #6 - Bell County Lever Machine

    • MINUTE ORDER #528/06:  Upon motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Cortese, the Court unanimously approved to donate one Lever Voting Machine to the Office of the Secretary of State to be displayed in the State Capitol.



  7. Agenda #7 - Fireworks

    • MINUTE ORDER #529/06:  Steve Casey, Fire Marshall presented for approval the Order prohibiting the sale, use, detonating, ignition, or other use of fireworks classified under 49 C.F.R. part. 173.100 (r) (2) (10-1-86 edition) as "skyrockets with sticks," and "missiles with fins" in any portion of the unincorporated area of Bell County.  After due discussion, upon motion of Commissioner Fisher, seconded by Commissioner Cortese, the Court unanimously approved this matter. 



  8. Agenda #8 - Judge John Barina

    • MINUTE ORDER #530/06:  Judge Jon H. Burrows, presented County Court at Law #2, Judge John Barina with a Certificate of Appreciation for his 23 years of dedicated service upon his retirement.  The Court also designated December 15, 2006 as Judge John Barina Day in Bell County.  After due discussion, upon motion of Commissioner Cortese, seconded by Commissioner Brown, the Court unanimously approved this matter.



  9. Agenda #9 - Claims

    • MINUTE ORDER #531/06:  Judge Burrows presented the claims for review to the Court.  After proper review, upon motion of Commissioner Brown, seconded by Commissioner Cortese, the Court unanimously approved all such claims.  All according to a copy of the same being of record in the office of the County Auditor. 



      (The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items on the workshop agenda with no action being taken on any item.)


               There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
