this the 6th day of August, 2007, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas,
met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular session with the

Agenda #1 - Minutes
- MINUTE ORDER #306/07: It being nine a.m.,
Judge Jon Burrows called the regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court
to order and called to the Courts attention that the minutes of July 30,
2007, regular session had been received. After due discussion, upon
motion by Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner
Richard Cortese, these
minutes were approved with corrections.
Agenda #2a - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #307/07: County Engineer Richard
Macchi
presented for approval awarding of the bid for the sale of three (3) motor
graders. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Richard Cortese, second by
Commissioner Tim Brown, the Court unanimously approved selling Unit
Number 442 and 447 to Garey Construction, and the third unit, Number 552
will be sold to Holt Cat.
Agenda #3 - Personnel
- MINUTE ORDER #308/07: Upon motion of
Commissioner Eddy Lange, second by Commissioner Tim Brown, the
Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms, the same being
attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.
Agenda #4 - Setting Dates for Presentation of the FY 2008
Budget, Public Hearings and Approval of the Budget and Tax Rates
- MINUTE ORDER #309/07: Judge Jon Burrows presented
the matter to consider setting dates for the presentation of the FY 2008
Budget, Public Hearings and approval of the Budget and Tax Rates. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner John Fisher, second by Commissioner Tim Brown,
the Court unanimously approved the setting of the following dates, with all
meetings to be in the Commissioners' Courtroom:
1. August 15, 2007 at 9:00 a.m., for the first Public
Hearing on the Tax Rates;
2. August 20, 2007 at 9:00 a.m., for the presentation
of the Budget, the Public Hearing on the Budget, and the
second Public Hearing on the Tax Rates;
3. August 27, 2007 at 9:00 a.m., for approval of the
Budget and approval of the Tax Rates.
Agenda #5 - Proposed Tax Rates for Notice of Public
Hearing Purposes
- MINUTE ORDER #310/07: Judge Jon Burrows
presented the matter to consider the approval of FY 2008 Proposed Tax
Rates for notice of public hearing purposes. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner John Fisher,
the Court unanimously approved the following FY 2008 Proposed Tax Rates for
notice of public hearing purposes:
1. For Bell County General Fund, a proposed rate of
$0.3795 per $100 valuation;
2. For Bell County Road & Bridge Fund, a proposed rate
of $0.0295 per $100 valuation;
3. For a proposed total of $0.4090 per $100 valuation,
which is a decrease of $0.002 from the FY 2007 Tax
Rates.
Agenda #6 - Update on Bell County Flooding Damage and
Disaster Services
- MINUTE ORDER #311/07: Dennis Baker, Director of
Emergency Management Services for Bell County presented an update to the
Court regarding Bell County Flooding Damage and Disaster Assistance status.
He advised FEMA's Mobile Disaster Unit has accepted applications from 241 Bell
County families. A second visit to Bell County is scheduled for August
19, 2007. No action was taken
Agenda #7 - Claims
- MINUTE ORDER #312/07: Judge Jon Burrows presented the
claims for review to the Court. After proper review, upon motion
of Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner Richard
Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved all such claims. All according to a
copy of the same being of record in the office of the County Auditor.
(The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items on the
workshop agenda with no action being
taken on any item.)
There being no further business, the meeting
adjourned.
