AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 7th day of April, 2008, at 1:30 p.m., the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Bell County Exposition Center (EXPO Center), 301 West Loop 121, Belton, Texas, in special session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

  1. Agenda #1 - Welcome

    • MINUTE ORDER #147/08:  It being 1:30 p.m., County Judge Jon Burrows convened this Special Meeting of the Commissioners' Court and welcomed the audience.



  2. Agenda #2 - Resolution from Bell County EXPO, Inc. Board

    • MINUTE ORDER #148/08:   The Court received a resolution from Dr. Mitchell Jacobs, President of Bell County EXPO, Inc. Board, on behalf of the Board recommending that the Main Arena of the Bell County Exposition Center be named the "Judge John C. Garth Arena" in honor of former Bell County Judge John C. Garth.  No action taken.
          


  3. Agenda #3 - Approval of Resolution

    • MINUTE ORDER #149/08:   Upon motion by Commissioner Richard Cortese, second by Commissioner Tim Brown, the Court unanimously approved the EXPO Board resolution to name the Main Arena of the Bell County Exposition Center the "Judge John C. Garth Arena."



  4. Agenda #4 - Dedication Prayer

    • MINUTE ORDER #150/08:  County Judge Jon Burrows called upon the Reverend Roscoe Harrison to present a dedication prayer.  No action taken.      



  5. Agenda #5 - History of the Bell County Exposition Center

    • MINUTE ORDER #151/08:  County Judge John Burrows called upon former Bell County Commissioner John W. "Jack" Oliver to present the history of the Bell County Exposition Center and give remarks about Judge Garth, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part of these minutes.  No action taken.     



  6. Agenda #6 -  Unveiling of Marquee

    • MINUTE ORDER #152/08:   The "Judge John C. Garth Arena" marquee was unveiled.  No action taken.
          


  7. Agenda #7 - Elizabeth Garth

    • MINUTE ORDER #153/08:   County Judge Jon Burrows called upon Elizabeth Garth, daughter of Judge John C. Garth for remarks on behalf of Judge Garth.  Following her remarks, Judge John C. Garth addressed the audience with appreciation of this event.  No action taken.
          


  8. Agenda #8 - Adjournment

    • MINUTE ORDER #154/08:   County Judge Jon Burrows adjourned the meeting and invited the audience to the EXPO Assembly Hall for refreshments and fellowship with Judge Garth.
