Agenda #1 - Moment of Silence
- MINUTE ORDER #191/08: It being nine a.m.,
County Judge Jon Burrows, called the regular meeting of the
Commissioners' Court to order and called for a moment of silence in honor
and memory of former Bell County Judge John C. Garth who passed away on
Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the age of 64. Judge Garth had served as Bell
County Judge from 1979 until 1998.
Agenda #2 - Minutes
- MINUTE ORDER #192/08:
County Judge Jon Burrows, called to the Courts attention that the
minutes of May 5, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. regular session had been received. After
due discussion, these
minutes were approved as presented.
Agenda #3a - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #193/08: Tom Berrier, County Engineer's
Office presented for approval the acceptance of Right of Way for Cedar Oaks
Drive. After due discussion,
upon motion by
Commissioner Eddy Lange, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese, the
Court unanimously approved this matter.
Agenda #3b - Killeen Tire Collection Event Report
- MINUTE ORDER #194/08: Tom Berrier, County Engineer's
Office presented for approval the report on the Killeen Tire Collection
Event and payment of $493.00 to the City of Killeen for the County's portion
of the costs. After due discussion,
upon motion by
Commissioner John Fisher, second by Commissioner Tim Brown,
the Court unanimously approved this matter.
Agenda #3c - Interlocal Agreement with City of Troy for
Guardrails
- MINUTE ORDER #195/08: After due discussion,
upon motion by
Commissioner Eddy Lange, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Troy
to provide two sections of guard rails.
Agenda #3d - Purchase of an AZ-500 (Asphalt Zipper)
- MINUTE ORDER #196/08: After due discussion,
upon motion by
Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved authorizing the purchase of an AZ-500
(Asphalt Zipper) through HGAC, with trade-in of our current 1985 model.
Agenda #4 - Personnel
- MINUTE ORDER #197/08: Upon motion by Commissioner
Eddy Lange, second
by Commissioner Richard Cortese, the Court unanimously approved
all employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made
part of these minutes; to include adding an additional position of Deputy
Clerk II (55/06) for Justice of the Peace G.W. Ivey.
Agenda #5 - Appointment to the Area Agency on Aging
Advisory Council
- MINUTE ORDER #198/08: After due discussion,
upon motion by Commissioner Richard Cortese, second by
Commissioner Tim Brown, the Court unanimously approved the appointment
of Craig Pearson, Belton Council Member, to the Area Agency on Aging
Advisory Council.
Agenda #6 - National Drinking Water Week in Bell
County
- MINUTE ORDER #199/08: County Judge Jon Burrows
presented for approval a Proclamation designating May 4 - 10, 2008 as
National Drinking Water Week in Bell County. After
due discussion, upon motion by Commissioner John Fisher, second by
Commissioner Richard Cortese, the Court unanimously approved this
matter. A copy of said Proclamation is attached hereto and made part
of these minutes.
Agenda #7 - National Police Week
- MINUTE ORDER #200/08: Sheriff Dan Smith
presented for approval a Proclamation designating the week of May 15th as
National Police Week and May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Eddy Lange, second by Commissioner Tim Brown,
the Court unanimously approved the matter. A copy of said
Proclamation is attached hereto and made part of these minutes.
Agenda #8 - Supplemental Watershed Agreement No. IV
- MINUTE ORDER #201/08: After due discussion,
upon motion by
Commissioner Eddy Lange, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved Supplemental Watershed Agreement No. IV - Elm
Creek (Cen-Tex) Watershed between the Secretary of Agriculture, through the
Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Central Texas Soil and Water
and Conservation District, the McLennan County Soil and Water Conservation
District, the Elm Creek Watershed Authority, Bell County, McLennan County,
Falls County and Milam County.
Agenda #9 - Maintenance and Service Contracts
- MINUTE ORDER #202/08: After due
discussion, upon motion by Commissioner
Tim Brown, second
by Commissioner Richard Cortese, the Court unanimously approved
contracts with Siemens and with Johnson Controls for maintenance and service
for building technical/computer equipment and operation.
Agenda #10 - Claims
- MINUTE ORDER #203/08: County Judge Jon
Burrows
presented the claims for review to the Court. After proper review, upon motion by
Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved all such claims. All according to a
copy of the same being of record in the office of the County Auditor.
(The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items on the
workshop agenda with no action being taken on any item.)
There being no further business, the meeting
adjourned.
