- MINUTE ORDER #402/08:
County Judge Jon Burrows called to the Courts attention that the
minutes of September 15, 2008, 9:00 a.m. regular session had been received. After due discussion, these
minutes were approved as presented.
Agenda #2a - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #403/08: After due discussion,
upon motion by Commissioner
Tim Brown, second
by Commissioner Richard Cortese, the Court unanimously authorized County Engineer
Richard Macchi to purchase two Asphalt Storage Tanks in the amount of
$141,830 off of the Buy Board.
Agenda #2b - Name Change of Cedar Knob Estates
- MINUTE ORDER #404/08: County Engineer
Richard Macchi presented for approval a request to change the name of
the development Cedar Knob Estates to Salado Lakeview. After due discussion,
upon motion by Commissioner
Tim Brown, second
by Commissioner John Fisher, the Court unanimously approved this
matter.
Agenda #2c - Arrowhead Point Boat Ramp
- MINUTE ORDER #405/08: County Engineer
Richard Macchi presented for approval authorizing U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers to install an access gate on County right of way at the Arrowhead
Point Boat Ramp. After due discussion,
upon motion by Commissioner
Richard Cortese, second
by Commissioner Eddy Lange, the Court unanimously approved this
matter.
Agenda #2d - Joint Tire Collection Event with the City
of Temple
- MINUTE ORDER #406/08: County Engineer
Richard Macchi presented a report on the results of the September 12-13,
2008, Joint Tire Collection Event with the City of Temple. A copy of
said report is attached hereto and made part of these minutes. No
action taken.
Agenda #2e - Bids for Construction of Metal Building at
Road and Bridge Department
- MINUTE ORDER #407/08: After due discussion,
upon motion by Commissioner
Richard Cortese, second
by Commissioner Eddy Lange, the Court unanimously authorized the
County Engineer to advertise for bids for the construction of a 50' X 200'
metal building to house equipment at the Road and Bridge Department.
Agenda #2f - Flood Damage Prevention Plan
- MINUTE ORDER #408/08: County Judge Jon
Burrows announced the County intent to implement the use of the Flood
Damage Prevention Court Order (approved on July 28, 2008) and Revised Flood
Insurance Rate Maps on September 26, 2008. No action taken.

- MINUTE ORDER #409/08: Upon motion by Commissioner
John Fisher, second
by Commissioner Richard Cortese, the Court unanimously approved all
employee status report forms, the same being attached hereto and made part
of these minutes.
Agenda #4 - Commissioners' Court Advanced Curriculum
- MINUTE ORDER #410/08: The Court recognized County
Judge Jon Burrows and Pct 4 Commissioner John Fisher for their
completion of the Commissioners' Court Advanced Curriculum and their
recognition at the 86th Annual County Judges & Commissioners of Texas
Conference in Fort Worth, Texas on September 18, 2008. No action
taken.
Agenda #5 - Task Force on Indigent Defense
Appointment
- MINUTE ORDER #411/08: County
Judge Jon Burrows announced his re-appointment by Governor Rick Perry to
the Task Force on Indigent Defense. No action taken.
Agenda #6 - Emergency Management Response to Hurricane
Ike
- MINUTE ORDER #412/08: Dennis Baker,
Emergency Management Coordinator, reported to the Court on the
cooperative Emergency Management response to Hurricane Ike and the
evacuation of Brazoria County residents to Bell County and their return.
There were a total of 1,200 people and 86 animals that were evacuated to
Bell County. Five (5) people remain in Bell County, 3 are hospitalized
and 2 are in nursing homes, along with three (3) animals. Dirk Aaron,
Bell County Extension Agent also reported on the efforts to rescue cattle in
the devastated area. No action taken.
Agenda #7 - Investment Report
- MINUTE ORDER #413/08: County
Treasurer, Charles Jones presented to the Court an investment report in
light of current national financial industry events. No action taken.
Agenda #8 - Order Restricting Outdoor Burning
- MINUTE ORDER #414/08: The Court received a
report from Fire Marshall Steve Casey, a copy of which is attached and made
part of these minutes, to consider continuing, modifying or terminating an
Order Restricting Outdoor Burning dated August 25, 2008. After due discussion,
upon motion by Commissioner
Eddy Lange, second
by Commissioner Tim Brown, the Court unanimously approved extending
the Order Restricting Outdoor Burning for another thirty days effective
sunrise September 23, 2008.
Agenda #9 - Claims
- MINUTE ORDER #415/08: County Judge Jon
Burrows
presented the claims for review to the Court. After proper review, upon motion by
Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved all such claims. All according to a
copy of the same being of record in the office of the County Auditor.
(The Court then went into workshop session to discuss those items on the
workshop agenda with no action being taken on any item.)
There being no further business, the meeting
adjourned.
