AFTER proper posting of public notice, a copy of which is attached hereto, on this the 2nd day of January, 2009, the County Commissioners Court of Bell County, Texas, met in the Commissioners' Courtroom in Belton, Texas, in regular session with the following members of said Court present, to-wit:

  1. Agenda #1 - Call to Order

    • MINUTE ORDER #001/09:  County Judge Jon Burrows called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m.



  2. Agenda #2 - Pledges

    • MINUTE ORDER #002/09:   County Judge John Burrows introduced 169th Judicial District Judge Gordon Adams who led the Pledges to the United States and Texas Flags.  No action taken.
          


  3. Agenda #3 - Invocation

    • MINUTE ORDER #003/09:   County Judge John Burrows introduced Belton Councilman Joe Baisden who gave the invocation.  No action taken.
          


  4. Agenda #4 - Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court

    • MINUTE ORDER #004/09:    County Judge John Burrows introduced Jamey Secrest, President of the Bell County Bar Association who announced that the bar association has made a donation to the Peaceable Kingdom Retreat in honor of Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson.  County Judge John Burrows then introduced 146th Judicial District Judge Rick Morris to introduce Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson and his three sons.  No action taken.



  5. Agenda #5 - Swearing In of all Elected and Re-Elected officials for Bell County

    • MINUTE ORDER #005/09:   Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson gave the Oath of Office to the following elected and re-elected officials of Bell County:
      A.    State Officials:
              1.  27th District Judge Joe Carroll
              2.  146th District Judge Rick Morris
              3.  426th District Judge Fancy Jezek
              4.  District Attorney Henry Garza
      B.    County Officials:
              1.  County Commissioner, Precinct 1 - Richard Cortese
              2.  County Commissioner, Precinct 3 - Eddy Lange
              3.  County Attorney Rick Miller
              4.  Sheriff Dan Smith
              5.  Tax Assessor/Collector Sharon Long
              6.  Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Place 1 - David Barfield
              7.  Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1 - Garland Potvin
              8.  Constable, Precinct 1 - Luis Cortez
              9.  Constable, Precinct 2 - Roger Laird

      The Court took no action on this matter.



  6. Agenda #6 - Official Bonds of Elected and Re-elected Officials of Bell County

    • MINUTE ORDER #006/09:   County Judge Jon Burrows presented for approval the official bonds of all elected and re-elected officials for Bell County.  After due discussion, upon motion by Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner John Fisher, the Court unanimously approved this matter. 
          


  7. Agenda #7 - Reception

    • MINUTE ORDER #007/09:   County Judge Jon Burrows announced that a reception for the newly sworn in Bell County officials was being held in the jury room of the 146th Judicial District Court.



             There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
