- MINUTE ORDER #158/09:
County Judge Jon Burrows called to the Courts attention that the minutes
of April 20, 2009 regular session had been received. After due
discussion, these minutes were approved as presented.
Agenda #2a - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #159/09: County Judge Jon
Burrows opened a public hearing at 9:06 a.m. for comments on the
installation of a 45 MPH speed limit 2500 feet south of Ivy Road to 2100
feet north of Ivy Road on Willow Grove Road. There being no comments
offered, the public hearing was closed. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Eddy Lange, second by Commissioner Richard Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved this matter.
Agenda #2b - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #160/09: County Engineer Bryan
Neaves presented for approval authorizing the County Engineer to
advertise for bids for the annual purchase of Rip Rap Rock. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner Eddy Lange,
the Court unanimously approved this matter.
Agenda #2c - County Engineer
- MINUTE ORDER #161/09: County Engineer Bryan
Neaves presented for approval pricing on Hot Mix materials from
Ironhorse Asphalt ($56 per ton) and Lindsey Paving ($51 per ton). After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Richard Cortese, second by Commissioner Tim Brown,
the Court unanimously approved this matter.

- MINUTE ORDER #162/09: Upon motion
by Commissioner Tim Brown second by Commissioner Richard
Cortese,
the Court unanimously approved all employee status report forms with
approved budget amendment, the same being attached hereto and made a part of
these minutes.
Agenda #4 - April 2009 Edition of County Progress
Magazine
- MINUTE ORDER #163/09: Harvey Allen with
McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen, P.C. presented to the Court a framed
article on Bell County featured in the April 2009 edition of County Progress
Magazine. After due discussion, upon motion by
Commissioner Richard Cortese, second by Commissioner Tim Brown,
the Court unanimously approved this matter. A copy of said article is
attached hereto and made part of these minutes.
Agenda #5 - Texas AgriLife Extension Service Volunteers
- MINUTE ORDER #164/09: County Extension Agent
Dirk Aaron recognized volunteers from the annual Texas AgriLife Extension
Service Volunteer Dinner on April 23rd at the Bell County Expo Center.
No action taken by the Court.

- MINUTE ORDER #165/09: After due
discussion, upon motion
by Commissioner Tim Brown second by Commissioner Richard
Cortese, the Court unanimously approved authorizing contract
negotiations with Zapalac Reed Construction for the construction of a
Multi-Use Building.

Master Service Interlocal Contract
- MINUTE ORDER #166/09: County Judge
Jon Burrows presented for approval a County Master Service Interlocal
Contract between Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) and Bell
County. After due discussion, upon motion
by Commissioner Tim Brown second by Commissioner Richard
Cortese, the Court unanimously approved this matter.

Agenda #8 - City of Belton - Rockwool Superfund Site
- MINUTE ORDER #167/09: County Judge
Jon Burrows presented for approval a request by the City of Belton for
Bell County and Bell County Road District to waive taxes due (approximately
$8,908.62 to Bell County and $692.19 to Bell County Road District) on
property located at 1741 Taylors Valley Road in Belton, locally known as
the Rockwool Superfund site, and to deed Bell County and Bell County Road
District interests in the property to the City of Belton. After due
discussion, upon motion
by Commissioner Richard Cortese, second by Commissioner Eddy
Lange, the Court unanimously approved this matter.

Agenda #9 - 2009 Payment from Texas Tobacco Settlement
- MINUTE ORDER #168/09: County Auditor
Donna Eakin reported that Bell County's 2009 payment from the Texas
Tobacco Settlement proceeds is $309,839.10. No action taken by the
Court.
Agenda #10 - Claims
- MINUTE ORDER #169/09: County Judge Jon
Burrows presented the claims for review to the Court. After
proper review, upon
motion by Commissioner Tim Brown, second by Commissioner Richard
Cortese, the Court unanimously approved all such claims. All
according to a copy of the same being of record in the office of the County
Auditor.
(The Court then went into
workshop session to discuss those items on the workshop agenda with no action
being taken on any item.)
There being no further business, the meeting
adjourned.
