ONGOING EXHIBIT
THE SANCTIFIED SISTERS OF BELTON

Discover the extraordinary story of a 19th-century female commune that organized in Belton. Founded by a woman and composed largely of women, the Sanctified Sisters of Belton succeeded in their reluctant rebellion against traditional societal principles. This exhibit tells the story of this remarkable communal group which originated in Belton initially for spiritual reasons, but evolved into a successful utopian community which lasted for over one hundred years.
