TRAINING SCHEDULE

4th Quarter - 2009

The Training Division of the Bell County Sheriff's Office is responsible for the Tactical, Field and In-Service training of the Commissioned and Non-Commissioned employees of the Bell County Sheriffs' Office, which include Law Enforcement, Corrections and Telecommunications.

This training includes all Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Educations (TCLEOSE) Mandates, Texas Commission on Jail Standards Mandates, Texas Legislations Mandates and Federal Emergency Management Mandates for Law Enforcement Officers.

These Mandates include firearms qualifications, emergency diving techniques, defensive tactics, mental health issues, race and culture awareness, stress management, civil rights issues, liability issues, policy and procedures, constitutional laws, Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and Family Code Law.

Special operations tatics includes: SWAT training, dive training, cell management training (CMT), and First Aid and CPR certifications.

The training division has fifty-two instructors which include eight specialized firearms instructors and six specialized defensive tactics instructors.

The Bell County Sheriff's Office also hosts a Jail Academy which provides its services to the surrounding counties of Milam, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, San Saba and Bosque. The Jail Academy has a staff of thirteen instructors. The academy is provided three times a year in February, June and October.

The Training division mission is to provide officers with the skills and techniques that range from verbal communication skills to crime scene tactics and life skills technique scenarios which will not only make for a more well trained officer to serve the public better, but will also give the officer the skills and techinques for survival.

All courses and training events are open to all law enforcement agencies unless otherwise posted.
