The law requires
any individual doing business in Bell County to file an Assumed Name
reflecting his/her business name and the ownership of the business.
This record is valid for ten years; after that time, the individual must file a
renewal. The individual should verify the County records to be sure that
the business name desired is not already in use. If the business
name is available, the individual may file
his/her Assumed Name with the Killeen, Belton, or Temple offices of the County Clerk.
Business transactions will not be accepted after 4:30 p.m.
The cost of this record is $7.00,
which will provide the individual with a certified copy of the document
he/she will
need to open a bank account for his/her business. Out-of-state
checks are not accepted.
