Birth Certificates
Certified copies of Birth Certificates for a person born in the State of Texas may be obtained only from the Belton Office of the County Clerk. (A raised seal is used.) Business transactions will not be accepted after 4:30 p.m. Birth Certificates are $23.00 each no matter how many are obtained. If a Passport is needed, the following applies:
	A person born before 1964, delayed record, or outside of a hospital will need to request a long form birth certificate. This must be obtained from the county in which the birth occurred. If this happens to be Bell County and the birth was in Temple after 1950, then the City of Temple needs to be contacted at 254-298-5701. (The City of Temple holds its own records after 1950).
NOTE: BIRTH RECORDS ARE NOT PUBLIC RECORDS AND MAY ONLY BE OBTAINED BY AN INDIVIDUAL OR A RELATIVE. THE APPLICANT MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION FOR THE CERTIFICATE AND PROVIDE PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION (Driver's License, Military ID, State ID, or other Government ID). TO ORDER A BIRTH CERTIFICATE BY MAIL: Send the Birth Certificate Application along with payment to: Bell County Clerk Attn: Vital Records P. O. Box 480 Belton, Texas 76513 Provide the Date and Place of Birth; Father's full name; Mother's Maiden name; and stating the requesters' relationship to the individual whose birth record is desired. A copy of the requesters' proof of identification (driver's license, military ID, state ID, or other government ID) must also be submitted with the request. If the requesting individual is out-of-state, money for the certificate(s) should be sent in the form of a money order or cashier's check. Out-of-state checks are not accepted.
