About Bell County
Bell County is centrally located along the
I-35 corridor. Bell County is serviced by two major railroads and offers state-of-the art medical facilities, several excellent colleges, and a large regional airport, all of which make it a great choice to call home. Bell County is home to Fort Hood. With a capacity of 50,000 troops, it is one of the largest military installations in the free world. The 2010 Census put Bell County's population at 310,325 - the 16th largest of Texas' 254 counties. Bell County grew by 30.4% from 2000 to 2010. The 2012 population is estimated to be over 315,000, and it continues to grow, fueling a strong and stable economy.
Bell County was recently honored at the National Association of Counties Annual Conference during the Center for Digital Government 2013 Digital Counties Survey Awards Reception. Bell County Judge, Jon Burrows and Bell County Technology Services Director, Jim Chandler were presented the award which ranked Bell County as 7th nationwide for a county with a population of 250K to 500K. The annual survey recognizes leading examples of counties for effectively and efficiently using digital technologies to serve their citizens, streamline operations, and achieve measurable benefits.
