About Bell County

Bell County is centrally located along  the
I-35 corridor.  Bell County is serviced by two major railroads and offers state-of-the art medical facilities, several excellent colleges, and a large regional airport, all of which make it a great choice to call home.  Bell County is home to Fort Hood.  With a capacity of 50,000 troops, it is one of the largest military installations in the free world.  The 2010 Census put Bell County's population at 310,325 - the 16th largest of Texas' 254 counties.  Bell County grew by 30.4% from 2000 to 2010.  The 2012 population is estimated to be over 315,000, and it continues to grow, fueling a strong and stable economy.

county clerk awardThe Bell County Clerk's Office was recognized by the Commissioners Court for
receiving the
Five Star Service Award by the Texas Department of State Health Services for the seventh year.  Qualification criteria includes timeliness for submitting birth and death reports, staff training, managing registration and the use of the remote birth access system.  The Bell County Clerk's office was one of 49 counties in Texas' 254 counties to be recognized by the State.  Pictured are Shelley Coston, Bell County Clerk and Jeannette Compean, supervisor of the Vital Statistics Department for the County Clerk's Office.
