Docket Schedule for Misdemeanor Cases
Pleas will be set Monday through Friday of each week. CCL#2 will be available to hear pleas. Jail pleas will be heard at 1:30 p.m. on and Friday in Court #2.
Both courts will hear open pleas at 1:30 p.m. each Wednesday. A special setting and PSI requests must be submitted four weeks in advance of the plea date.
Trials Before the Court
A docket call for all non-jury trials will be at 10:00 a.m. in Court #2 on the Tuesday before the trial is set and the defense attorneys must be present. Non-jury trials will be heard on Thursday and Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Cases Being Set on the Jury Trial Docket
In order for a case to be placed on the jury trial docket, the defendant must appear in person with his or her attorney, along with the attorney for the State, at which time pre-trial matters in accordance with Art. 28.01 V.A.C.C.P. and discovery matters pursuant to Art. 39.14 V.A.C.C.P. will be taken up or scheduled.
A docket call for all jury trials will be at 1:30 p.m. in Court #2 on the Wednesday preceding the trial date. The defendant and the attorney must appear at the docket call.
Sentencing and Contested Revocations
Sentencing and contested revocations will be set i on Wednesday afternoons.
Pre-Trials will be on Wednesdays at 1:15 p.m. Pre-Trials motions resulting from a special hearing request will be heard on Wednesdays.
The following schedule will be used in issuing a NISI and a warrant for the arrest of defendants that fail to appear in a timely manner. The following schedule represents the general rule. The Court can and may, in The Court's discretion, deviate from these general rules and issue a NISI and a warrant immediately for any failure to appear.
