Sheriff's Department Recognizes 1st Quarter Promotions
Belton, TX – On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the Bell County Sheriff’s Department held a special ceremony celebrating recent promotions. Nine of the department’s employees and one volunteer were recognized during the event.
Among those recognized was Jeff Buuck, who has served as Acting Chief Deputy before stepping into the role of Chief Deputy following the retirement of Chuck Cox in November.
“We want to recognize our current and future leaders and their importance to the success of the organization,” Buuck said. “Organizations live and die by leadership.”
Tuesday’s event recognized a diverse group. Pam Phillips received an accommodation for her exceptional commitment as a volunteer with the Bell County Animal Shelter. Other officers were recognized with promotions. For some these promotions come after decades with the department, while for a few corporals the move represents their first steps into positions of leadership.
"Those first-line supervisors really transition policy into action,” Buuck said. “We can sit up here and make decisions, but they have to make it work.”
While COVID-19 protocols necessitated that Tuesday’s event be kept small and socially distanced, Buuck and Sheriff Eddy Lange both expressed hope that this event will become a quarterly occurrence.
Below is a list of all the individuals recognized during today’s event with their new rank:

Christopher Wilcox | Patrol Sargent |
Joshua Cox | Patrol Corporal |
