Belton and Temple Vaccination Centers to Close Thursday Due to Inclement Weather
Belton, TX – The vaccination centers located at the Bell County Expo in Belton and the Sammons Community Center in Temple will be closed Thursday, February 11, due to inclement weather. All of Thursday’s appointments have been automatically rescheduled. The vaccination center located in the Killeen Community Center is still scheduled to be open.
“We made this decision out of an abundance of caution,” Bell County Judge David Blackburn said. “Giving the potential for freezing rain and low temperatures, we wanted to ensure the safety of everyone coming to be vaccinated, as well as that of our staff and volunteers.”
Those with appointments scheduled for Thursday at the Expo have been automatically moved to the same time Friday, February 19. Likewise, everyone with appointments at the Sammons Community Center will now receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, February 17, at the same time as their original appointment.
Due to technical issues with the county’s scheduling system, it is possible some people may receive emails incorrectly confirming their original appointment time and date. Bell County officials apologize for this confusion but request that vaccine recipients disregard any such communications. Patients will only be on the list of eligible recipients on the new day. If they attempt to visit a vaccination center on any other day, they will be turned away.
Bell County health officials are closely monitoring weather conditions for this weekend and early next week. Plans are in place to guarantee new appointments and vaccine doses for anyone whose appointment might be impacted by weather closures.
